We spent May long weekend with the Hubs' side of the family, as is our annual tradition. This year's destination was a cabin on Galiano Island. While sleep deprivation did its best to drain my tank (the baby developed a fever right on cue), the little moments added and multiplied until I returned from our weekend away overflowing with love and contentment. Fuel for my love tank:
Breathtaking views,
Hammock snuggles,
Shared secrets,
Time with cousins,
Bellies full of food,
And, of course, more than a few photo ops.
May your love tank always be this full! Happy Wednesday.
Today, my friends, is a momentous day in blogging history, for today marks the Listmaster's 100th listicle. To celebrate, I'm writing a list of reasons to love listicles.
1. They cure the Sunday evening/Monday morning blues.
2. You can make up any excuse to share random and gratuitously cute photos of your baby.
3. They're free.
4. No need to mess around with paragraphs, and full sentences are optional. Who doesn't love point form?
5. If you can count to ten, you can listicle.
6. No one minds if you stray from the proposed topic.
7. Listiclers are a very special breed of blogger, and you get to meet dozens of them!
Seven. Seven whole months since I first held him, fed him, rocked him, felt his sweet little hand grasp my finger. Since I looked into his bright yet unfocused eyes and said, "Happy birthday, Baby." Seven months of sweet baby scent, milky smiles, excited kicks, flapping arms, and quiet snuggles. Seven months of sharing my world, my body, my moments with another tiny being. He's had my heart from the very beginning, but each day I wake to find that, somehow, though I wouldn't have believed it possible, my love for him has grown from the day before.
I am absolutely in love with this idea for a Listicle topic.
But. It's almost too easy!
These 10 tiny things bring me great joy.
But that would be cheating, wouldn't it?
Okay, okay, here's my real list of tiny things that bring me joy:
1. Using things up.
2. Donating or passing along things our household no longer needs or has outgrown, like clothing and baby items. I get an extra special thrill out of seeing friends' kids wearing clothes that used to belong to us. Especially super cute and quality items that my kids only got the chance to wear once or twice.
3. Paying for small purchases with exact change. Call me old-fashioned.
4. A place for everything and everything in its place.
5. Voting with my dollar and buying local when possible.
6. Remembering to bring change for the parking meter, shopping cart, or locker at the pool.
7. Discovering an inexpensive white wine that I like the taste of.
8. Having my tweets retweeted. I know, it's vain in a ridiculously superficial sort of way. But it still brings me a tiny thrill every time.
9. Glancing over at the alarm clock and realizing it's the weekend and the kid(s) have managed to sleep in. These days, even an extra 20 minutes makes me extremely happy.
