This week's Listicle topic, Things that Make You Go Hmmm..., is brought to us by Erin and Ellen at The Sisterhood of the Sensible Moms. I'm going to put a Lilahbility/toddler spin on this one:
Food tastes better to her when it comes from my plate or her dad's, even when it contains the exact. same. meal.
She doesn't like tomato sauce on her pasta, or sauce of any kind, for that matter, or even for any of her foods to touch, but dipping foods in ketchup or ranch dip is the very height of haute cuisine.
She wants to do everything herself and then collapses into a screaming, frustrated heap when a task proves too difficult for her developing fine motor skills. By that point she is too far beside herself to even find the words to ask for the help I was offering in the first place.
She somehow manages to get cuter with age. Why can't I have that power?
Most toys lose their novelty after they've been played with a few times, but she could watch the same episode of Dora 7000 times and never get bored.
After a long nap, she wakes up grumpy, wailing for "Mommy!" but then tells me to go away as soon as I get there.
Without doing anything at all, she makes random strangers on the street smile as she passes.
She'll have her hot dog with extra ketchup, hold the wiener, please.
She has the power to make me simultaneously seethe with frustration and beam with pride. How does she do that?
If that song is stuck in your head and gotten you thinking about the things that make you go hmmmm..., head on over to the Listmaster's place to link up!

Wednesday of Few Words: The Lady's Guide to Eating Ice Cream
1. A true lady doesn't demand her own ice cream. Instead, she politely accepts others' offers to share. Besides, Daddy's ice cream tastes better, and he'll hold it for you.
2. Be sure to use a spoon. Licking the cone itself would be very unladylike.
4. Stick out your tongue in anticipation of the spoon coming towards your mouth. This will help catch any errant drips of ice cream that would otherwise end up on your dress or similar ladylike attire.
5. Savour the sweet, delicious coldness as it melts in your mouth.
6. A real lady demonstrates generosity. Don't forget to give Daddy a few licks of his own ice cream cone. (I don't have any pictures to illustrate this point because a certain little lady had a hard time with this one.)

Blueberries: Then and Now
Lilah's love affair with frozen blueberries continues. Last April I posted this video titled Blueberries Unplugged.
Well, here's the remix, a year later:
So many changes: longer hair, more coordinated movements, (marginally) less mess. The biggest difference to me, is that she is purposefully going for the laughs. She's not a baby anymore, and she knows how to work a room. It's nice to know that amidst all these changes, some things always stay the same. Lilah's love of the blueberry endures.

Wordless Wednesday: My Little Bunny
This little bunny loves carrots!
(Truth be told, she hasn't eaten them this well since, but I'll take it!)

Wordless Wednesday: Breakfast Antics
Clearly she gets her sense of humour from her daddy!

Conspiracy Theory
I am convinced that the kind-hearted, generous, wonderful people I work with have deliberately set out to sabotage my latest fitness project, Operation: Get Healthy & Fit into my Pants.
It is a well-known fact that I have zero will power. Unlike my lovely co-workers, who seem to be able to restrain themselves, I cannot have just one cookie/doughnut/slice of delicious, moist, mouth-watering, ooey-gooey chocolate cake (or whatever). I have to have about 15. And then I have to undo the top button of my already tight pants and hang my head in shame.
I refuse to spend good money on new pants. I have considered digging out my maternity pants so I can sit down and breathe at the same time, but that seems too much like accepting defeat for my liking. However, I do have this to say to my dear colleagues: if I end up having to wear my bathrobe to work, you'll have only yourselves and your irresistible treats to blame. Consider yourselves warned!
