Terrific Two-and-a-half.

Monday's shadow is quickly creeping across the weekend's memories.  But fear not, there is a bright spot on the horizon: Monday Listicles!  The Listmaster, inspired by her son, has tasked us with writing a list about why it's great to be a kid.

Well, all I know is that two-and-a-half seems pretty terrific, and here is just a small sampling of the reasons why I believe this to be true:

1.  It is socially acceptable - cute, even- to be a messy eater and end up with food all over your face.

2.  You can rock a ladybug umbrella like nobody's business.

3.  Kinder Surprise.  'Nuff said.

4.  Pile-ons!

5.  Pizza for dinner three nights in a row?  Sure!  Everyone is just happy to see you eat something that contains 3 out of the four food groups.

6.  You're clever enough to do jigsaw puzzles but still young enough to get applause every. single. time you complete one.

7.  Birthday parties (and hence, cupcakes) aplenty!

8.  Needing 12 hours of sleep each night plus an afternoon nap is far from frowned upon.

9.   You can create your own eclectic outfits without worrying about visits from the fashion police.  Polka dot rain boots totally go with a skirt and tights.  And don't forget the magic wand for good measure!

10.  Temper tantrums are still de rigeur, which means you can get away with quite a lot.  (No photo included on this item, for obvious reasons.)

So tell me, what's your favourite age, and why?

  1. So glad you did this with photos. She is a cutie and inspired by Bruna's over the border love story I think polka dot boots might fall in love with my tractor boots one day.

  2. That ladybug umbrella does rock! And Kinder surprise? We could not live without those - glad we immigrated to Canada, not the US, where they don't have those ;)

    1. You definitely chose wisely - Kinder Surprise AND free universal healthcare? What's not to love! :)

  3. Ha - not sure if I have time to participate but I'd add: Yelling "I TOOTED" in a restaurant is considered amusing. Despite the tantrums, I love this age. Love it!

  4. So true on the temper tantrums. It would be interesting if we are entitled one in say, a month? ;) So true about the no rhyme nor reason fashion statements!

    1. I kinda have to admit to having a temper tantrum at least once a month, except now that I'm pregnant it's more like once a week. Maybe not flailing on the floor screaming (at least not EVERY time), but... ;)

  10. Love your list! Cutest.Pictures.Ever! Two and a half certainly looks like some fun! My favorite age for my kids was around four. I had boys and at that age, they both had me wrapped around their little fingers.

  14. I love this, Amanda!! Great pictures. Also, I would love to eat pizza three nights in a row, because then I wouldn't have to cook ;) Can you imagine how wonderful we would feel getting 12 hours of sleep at night?!

  16. Great photo captures of your girl, she is really a sweet 2.5 year old! I am still a messy eater but you are right, it is more frowned upon when I drop dinner down the front of my shirt.

    1. I'm a messy eater too, but I get scolded by the Hubs far more often than Lilah does. Blatant favouritism. ;)

  20. Well, I still sneak a cupcake at every birthday party we go to (well-deserved, in my opinion!), but otherwise, yep, these are pretty much all off limits!
