So Close We Can Taste It

Okay, so I realize it's not summer quite yet, but on Saturday the Vancouver weather gods gave us a lovely taste of what we hope is to come.  And it was delicious.  Intoxicating.

We greedily basked in the golden light of early evening but gladly shared it with good friends.

These kids enjoyed this little spoonful of summer so much that they wore it all over their adorably dirty little faces.

For now, we will let this small taste sustain us, but it won't be long before we are banging our spoons on the table and begging for more!

Home, Sweet Home

Hello, Monday Listicles!  I've missed you.  It feels good to be back.  So I'm going to play by the rules this week and stick to the topic chosen by the Listmaster herself.

10 words that describe my home:

1. Chaotic, yet 2. SparseWe're moving.  Need I say more?

3.  Brown.  I seem to be partial to brown in my decorating tastes.  This only just dawned on me recently when we started making choices for our new home.  I guess I like my furniture to match my hair...?

4.  Small. But, much like my belly, we're expanding.  (Unlike my belly, we're not expanding by a much; moving from two bedroom condo to a three bedroom townhouse in the same complex we've been living in for the past five years.)

5.  Neighbourly.  If you've been following for a while, you know how much we adore our neighbours and neighbourhood.  Hence the whole not-moving-very-far thing.

6.  Comfortable.  7. Cozy.  8. Warm.  (At least I hope it is all of these things.)

9. Happy.

10. Loving.

Gimme some sugar.

A Weekend Befitting a Queen

If you live somewhere other than Canada, you may not be aware that we celebrated Queen Victoria's birthday this past weekend.  Which basically means nothing to most Canadians other than the fact that we get a long weekend out of it.

This year we spent ours in Whistler with in-laws, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins galore and it was rather grand, as the Queen herself might have said.

Transportation options abounded.  (Okay, not really, but we had a lovely time ogling.)

High tea presented a veritable symphony for the taste buds and the company was equally delightful.

In fact, this guy gave it a thumbs up and declared himself thoroughly amused.

How was your weekend?

Baby Bucket List

In a couple months, life is going to change significantly, and I've been working on a mental list of things I want to accomplish before this baby comes along. Here's what I've come up with for my baby bucket list so far:

1. Enjoy this pregnancy, as there is a very good chance it will be my last.  (I've been doing better at this one since I stopped feeling nauseous all the time.)

2.  Make sure to get lots of photos of myself pregnant, for the same reason as above.  (So far I am failing miserably at this one.)

3.  Be a well-dressed pregnant woman.  (I give myself a B+ on this one thanks to a recent shopping spree.)

4.  Try not to stress too much. (We've bought a new place and are selling our condo, so I might be squeaking by with a C- here.)

5.  Pamper myself a little. (Solid B grade.)

6.  Gain less weight than I did while pregnant with Lilah.  (No comment.)

7.  Get lots of prenatal massages.  (Only one so far.)

8.  Spend time with friends I might not see for a while. (Thankfully, bridal showers, bachelorette weekends, and weddings have a way of making this happen.)

9.  Pick a name for baby boy. (Not even close.)

10.  Spend some quality time with my sweet girl before her world is totally rocked by the arrival of her baby brother.  (I'm hoping July brings lots of opportunities for this.)

Have anything to add to my list, experienced mamas?

Stopping to Appreciate the Little Things

Life seems to be moving at a hectic pace these days, and between a very full work schedule, a recent visit from my dad, listing and prepping our condo for sale, gearing up to renovate the townhouse we bought, pregnancy insomnia and subsequent exhaustion, and general toddler dealings, I haven't had much time to stop and smell the roses, let alone write about or photograph them.  My beloved camera is sadly collecting dust as we speak, poor thing.  Luckily for all of us, there is one person in this household who can't help but appreciate the little things in life.  Like finally being big enough to fit into the super cool underwear our friends brought back from Australia for her several months ago.
