And then, just when I think I know exactly what stage she is at, she blows me away. She sat for what constitutes ages in toddler time playing with my brother's old Lego collection. And she was pleased as punch to have her uncle show her how it's all done.
My dad's sister, my auntie, has always been very special to me, and stepping back and watching her interact with my daughter not only warmed my heart to its very core, it also clued me in to why she made such an amazing teacher and principal. This woman knows how to meet kids on their level.
The timing was also right for a visit to the North Island Wildlife Recovery Association to learn about animal rescue and recovery.
Lilah thought it might be nice to feed her yogurt-covered raisins to the birds. I'm not usually one to discourage my toddler's desire to share, rare as it is, but ummm...? No.
It was a wonderful visit all around, and I'm so glad we made the journey.
Happiness is... seeing the generation that raised me sharing a moment with the child I am raising.
So tell me, what made you happy this week?
My weekend made me happy too. We had lots of outside time and made the trek to Stanley Park which we do not enough. I heart family time on weekends.
