This week's Listicle topic, Things that Make You Go Hmmm..., is brought to us by Erin and Ellen at The Sisterhood of the Sensible Moms. I'm going to put a Lilahbility/toddler spin on this one:
Food tastes better to her when it comes from my plate or her dad's, even when it contains the exact. same. meal.
She doesn't like tomato sauce on her pasta, or sauce of any kind, for that matter, or even for any of her foods to touch, but dipping foods in ketchup or ranch dip is the very height of haute cuisine.
She wants to do everything herself and then collapses into a screaming, frustrated heap when a task proves too difficult for her developing fine motor skills. By that point she is too far beside herself to even find the words to ask for the help I was offering in the first place.
She somehow manages to get cuter with age. Why can't I have that power?
Most toys lose their novelty after they've been played with a few times, but she could watch the same episode of Dora 7000 times and never get bored.
After a long nap, she wakes up grumpy, wailing for "Mommy!" but then tells me to go away as soon as I get there.
Without doing anything at all, she makes random strangers on the street smile as she passes.
She'll have her hot dog with extra ketchup, hold the wiener, please.
She has the power to make me simultaneously seethe with frustration and beam with pride. How does she do that?
If that song is stuck in your head and gotten you thinking about the things that make you go hmmmm..., head on over to the Listmaster's place to link up!
That is so so true about the TV shows and toys. And the amazing cuteness that is LIlah! She does take after her mommy :)
ReplyDeleteHa, thanks. Only thing is, I'm pretty sure I'm going in reverse on the cuteness scale with every passing year! ;)
DeleteHa! *Love*
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! Those pictures are priceless. And what is it with ketchup and ranch!?! Ellen
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since my boys were toddlers but oh how your list rings true for me too! Great list! =D
ReplyDeleteMy 2 yo just discovered mustard with her hot dogs after some time with ketchup. Now everything is mustard! Haute cuisine indeed!
ReplyDeleteThis list was great! I found myself nodding along to a couple of them! ;)
ReplyDeleteI guess toddlers will be toddlers, regardless of what continent they live on!
DeleteWe are going through the DORA thing only worse because it is Yo Gabba Gabba - some one please shoot me?
ReplyDeleteI can't decide which is more annoying... actually, you're probably right, I think Yo Gabba Gabba would rate higher on the irritation scale!
DeleteVisiting from "Listicles". Love your list. I especially like your observation that kids get cuter with age, yet we somehow don't. How is that fair? :)
ReplyDeleteWell, what we lack in cuteness, we make up for in wisdom. Or something similar we tell ourselves so we can feel better about ageing. ;)
DeleteTee hee...ain't being a mommy grand? Very sweet post and such a cutie..yes, at what age, does aging stop getting cuter?
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I guess I will just have to wait see on that one! Probably when the teenage awkwardness sets in...?
DeleteOh, Dora. How does it fascinate them endlessly? My husband hates it starting with Season 3 when the stars and Diego join the show, so we've watched each episode of the first two seasons approximately two million times.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I never noticed much of a difference between the new and old formats. It's all falls within the same annoyingness bracket, as far as I'm concerned!
DeleteI did a toddler version too. Haha! As I type this, the 21 month old is busy begging to eat off her dad's dinner plate even though his plate contains the exact same food as her own. Sigh.....visiting from Listicles. Great list!
ReplyDeleteShe is absolutely adorable! My daughter likes to dip her apples in ketchup??!! It just grosses me out!
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's pretty disgusting! :)
DeleteBut hey, anything that gets them eating their fruits and veggies!
DeleteToo funny!
ReplyDeleteHey, maybe the secret to getting cuter is all the ketchup? It's doing wonders for her fine motor skills and her beauty lol
Love your list! My son is weird, he hates all condiments, even ketchup, always has (he's 9). :)
ReplyDeleteToddlers are impossible! But I agree, How is it possible to be so mad at a tiny person, yet trying to hide a smile!?
ReplyDeleteit is almost scary how exactly like my Zoo Zoo she sounds.
ReplyDeleteand yes - the ketchup and ranch dressing thing - why, why? On everything.
Oh...and now she's got her eye on mommy and daddy's Diana sauce. I'm buying the hot version - that'll teach her to eat off her own plate.
Have you also ever wondered why Dora just didn't get a GPS? Let's take a collection...
What an adorable picture of the two of you! It's perfect. Love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd boy can I relate to this list.
I didn't think it was possible, but she IS getting cuter with age!
