1. I am able to function on far less sleep. But I suppose that depends somewhat on your definition of "functioning."
2. My conversations center around kids' sleeping and eating habits and general behaviour. (In comparison to before kids, when I only had the Hubs' sleeping, eating and behaviour to complain about.)
3. I pay more attention to what is in food and try a lot harder to eat organic and/or local when possible.
4. My breasts are more about function than fun.
5. Morning sleep-ins? What are those, again?
6. I blog. And I tweet. And I have mommy friends who live far away and whom I have never met. And yet they know many of the intimate details of my life.
7. 5:00 pm does not seem like an unreasonable time to go out for dinner.
8. There are more ounces of breast milk in my freezer than there are ounces of vodka.
9. My body is lumpier, saggier, and more marked up after birthing two babies, and yet I am more in awe of its awesome power.
10. I am far more vulnerable. Two pieces of my heart are now beating outside of my body and I flinch every time they encounter even the tiniest threat, perceived or real.
I LOVE #10! Great post!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Taleen!
DeleteSo sweet - love all of your blogs!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as always. Motherhood really is a game changer.
ReplyDeleteTruly.
DeleteFantast post Amanda. Motherhood is definitely something that shapes you. I can't agree more with #7 lol!
ReplyDeleteYoung families and blue hairs - early bird special, yo! ;)
DeleteSuch a beautiful post! Motherhood is definitely changes us for the better.
ReplyDeleteI love that you had the 5pm dinner in there! I like that too since I hate feeling full before going to sleep. Still, I'm all looking at my hair to see if it's blue...
ReplyDeletePlus, who wants to eat in a crowded restaurant with all the late dining hipsters? ;)
Delete5 pm dinner is most certainly perfectly acceptable. you have a way better chance of having everyone in bed by 7 pm - 7:30 pm at the latest.
ReplyDeletebeautifully done, and I adore that first pic of the two of them. so sweet
I love. Love, love, love #10.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. Number 10 made me tear up. I have vodka in my freezer again. Bunt it is in the ziplock because it makes the best ice pack for boo boos.
ReplyDeleteHuh. Good to know. Hubs will love the excuse to stock up on vodka - move aside, breast milk! ;)
DeleteNumbers 9 and 10 just melted me. A huge "amen" to all of this, but especially to those two. ♥
ReplyDeleteLovely, endearing list. We've moved dinner up to right after school at 4pm. My girls were having such large after school snacks and dinner wasn't getting eaten. ;) Love connecting with others via blogging and other social media. It's really a life saver.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. The after school snacks are killer!
DeleteOh, Amanda...I love this. And, #10, yes, exactly.

Oh Amanda, how lovely is #10? Great list!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteAwwwww...what a great list! Number 7 cracked me up only for me now it's not because of the kids...I'm getting closer and closer to choosing off the Senior's menu. Ha!
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with saving a little money and allowing your tummy some extra time to digest before bed! ;)
DeleteSo sweet and perfect. This is what happens when a woman becomes a mama... well, I think, to most of us!!! Love it. :) And you have two cuties.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written and very true ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written and very true ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list! And wonderful picture of the two of them :) #6 is so so true! Way more people that I have never met know more about my life than some friends I talk to.
ReplyDeleteFantastic list...all of them are so very true. #10 really hit home because that's the one that caught me the most off guard. Thanks for sharing.
