Just like her mommy, Lilah is a creature of habit. You can tell which stories have received the most love over the past two-and-a-half years by the condition they are in. Here are some favourites from the Lilahbility collection.
1. Such a classic that I needed a copy for home and a copy for work:

2. Every kid growing up in Vancouver needs one of these:

3. I'm not sure what it is about this one, but she got it for Christmas and sometimes we have to hid it just to get a break from these nursery rhymes. (They're lovely, but every night for several months straight...?)

4. Lisa and family gave us two of this series for Lilah's first birthday and they have been on constant rotation every since Lilah came into her "girly" phase:

5. Another of Lisa's picks (girl sure knows her stuff!):

6. A bunny tale proving the futility of trying to run away:

7. Cute and humourous:

8. Another Eric Carle favourite:

9. For some reason, Lilah seems to find this one especially enjoyable as a potty read:

11. Bonus book: This one was a gift from a family I worked with and so far, I haven't had a chance to read it with Lilah because I have kept it at work, but it's really a special one and I just know she's going to love it!

What are your favourite kids' books?
Listmaster strikes again:
From this teacher mommy to you, a great set of books! We love Fancy Nancy, Pinkalicious and the Eric Carle books too!
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen the Good Night Vancouver one though! Must check it out.
It's great - it mentions Science World, Granville Island, cherry blossoms, library square... one small oversight I've noticed is that there is no mention of the aquarium. Still, wonderful to see the sights and sounds of our city in a kids' book!
DeleteI love the caterpillar book. She really is a sweet kid! I must see if we have Good night VA at our library, he would like that since he keeps saying we must go back!
ReplyDeleteWe'll lend it to you the next time you're in town. ;)
DeleteLove the caterpillar! My daughter has several Pinkalicious stories and loves to play on the website too. My kids go to faves are the "If you Give A Moose a Muffin", etc. series. they read them all the time.
ReplyDeleteOr the Dumb Bunnies, which I am less thrilled about.
Oooh, there are more Pinkalicious? I'll have to find me some of those!
DeleteI make a point of purchasing the Good Night (city) books whenever a friend is expecting! I also love the Good Night Beach one too.
ReplyDeleteEric Carle is always a great choice in our house!
I love the Fancy Nancy books. They are so fun! Great list!
ReplyDeleteMy girls loved Fancy Nancy - I actually think they helped expand their vocabularies.
ReplyDeleteThe Giving Tree is so beautiful. My son loves Brown Bear as well, he never gets tired of it. I have to check out the Vancouver book. Great list!
ReplyDeleteMany of those were also favorites in our house, and we got Pete the Cat from the library last summer and loved it! Cute list. I need to get some of the Fancy Nancy books...
ReplyDeleteGreat books! We have lots of Fancy Nancy books around here! I really love The Giving Tree, LOVE!
ReplyDeleteDoes it turn you into a sobbing pile of goo like it does Captain Awesome? ;)
DeleteWe love all the Bill Martin Jr and Eric Carle books. Fun list!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised there is so little overlap between what would be on my list and what is on yours!! We read curious George and curious George and, oh yeah, curious George. :) When I'm lucky enough to get a break from George we read The Gruffalo or Chica Chica Boom Boom. Actually, I refuse to read the same thing night after night, we read three books each bedtime and they go in a separate pile. The bookshelf is only restocked once a week (sometimes less) so she is forced to pick new stuff each evening. Oh, and mommy says new library books must be in the rotation, that keeps the selection fresh and keeps my brain from melting. :)
ReplyDeleteThe only one I know off your list is the mother goose nursery rhymes. Nice to see they're still holding on (even if driving you a little crazy LOL)
ReplyDeleteI love Eric Carle! We're also huge Thomas the Train fans here.
